What that actually means: Overseeing matters relating to product development, pricing, financial performance, compliance and customer fair value. As well as developing and maintaining relationships with third party providers of our health insurance and health services.
Why did you start Equipsme? We could see that there was a significant gap in the employed population for a highly valued employer health benefit, where the wider workforce had been overlooked and the focus was traditionally reserved for the more senior management minority.
What did you do before? 30+ years working in health insurance markets, driving underwriting and pricing strategies, financial performance, and developing products.
What’s the best bit about your job? Having spent a long career in large corporate financial services institutions, being part of an SME is a refreshing change. I enjoy being at the coalface for so many aspects of the customer solution and experience. And there’s a real satisfaction that comes from our agility - and actually being able to get things done.
What gets you out of bed in the morning? At my age, increasingly it’s my bladder! Seriously, it’s the small yet perfectly formed team that I consider myself really lucky to collaborate with.
Elevator pitch: Helping get a much wider workforce fitter leads to happier and more productive people. That helps generate business success, which in turn comes back around to benefit everyone.
What does the future look like? Very bright for Equipsme, in my opinion. Now more than ever businesses are looking to do more for more people, and Equipsme occupies that crucial middle ground between PMI and cashplans. By sticking to our lane and continuing to focus on business and customer needs, we’re continuing to bring new blood and life to a vital insurance market.
